Hoop earrings with citrines and small black pyrites.

The finishing elements are made of a 14 carat gold alloy.

Citrine is named after the old French word “citrin”, meaning “lemon”. The Romans were thought to be the first to wear the gem. Citrine became more popular during the Romantic Period which was an artistic, literary, and intellectual movement that originated in Europe toward the end of the 18th century. It is most often mined in Brazil, Madagascar and the new CIS countries.

The name “pyrite” comes from the Greek words pyrites lithos, meaning “stone which strikes fire”. The ancient Greeks discovered, that when a hard object was struck with pyrite  sparks were produced. In times gone by, pyrite was used to spark gunpowder in firearms. Pyrites are mined, among others, in Spain, Italy, Peru and Chile.

Due to the fact that each pair of Elfjoy earrings is hand-made, as a single copy, made of natural stones, it may be slightly different from the one shown in the picture. This does not mean, however, that it will be any less charming.
