Tourmaline was highly desired by royalty in the Far East through the ages. The last Empress of China, Empress Dowager Tzu His was in love with pink tourmaline. This last Empress of the Ch'ing Dynasty loved this stone so much that she bought enormous quantities of it. Rubellite is another name for the pink tourmaline, derived from the Latin word for red, rubellus. Known minis sites include Madagascar, Tanzania and California in the United States.

The name “pyrite” comes from the Greek words pyrites lithos, meaning “stone which strikes fire”. The ancient Greeks discovered, that when a hard object was struck with pyrite  sparks were produced. In times gone by, pyrite was used to spark gunpowder in firearms. Pyrites are mined, among others, in Spain, Italy, Peru and Chile.

Due to the fact that each Elfjoy bracelet is hand-made, as a single copy, made of natural stones, it may be slightly different from the one shown in the picture. This does not mean, however, that it will be any less charming.
